Happy Monday! Have an awesome week 🙂
Hope y’all had a great week and an even better weekend! Expect some new posts in the next few days under the Must See TV category. I’ll be doing recaps of Gotham, Scandal, How to Get Away with Murder, etc.
This quote was too good not to share! It’s practically one of my life mantras. I pride myself on being independent, but sometimes you can’t make it on your own. Don’t let your ego keep you in a rut. Asking for help takes courage and it can save you from a lot of unnecessary heartache. Your family and friends would rather see you happy, so don’t feel like you’re burdening them. Life troubles aren’t nearly as bad when you have a good support system, so utilize your inner circle 🙂
It’s been a pretty challenging week thus far. I came across this quote and it helped me put things into perspective. Times may get rough and there will definitely be days where you just want to throw in the towel. I have learned that the difficult times in life make you stronger and remind you how precious life is. It’s important to take both the good and the bad in stride because in the end the light and the dark are both essential to the human experience.
Happy Hump Day everyone!
I am so proud of my Step-Grandfather Crystal Rogers! He was recently featured in a Charleston Daily Mail article and I couldn’t think of anyone more deserving. He has a beautiful voice and he’s such an inspiration to me. It’s so nice to see him publicly acknowledged for his talent. I can only hope to one day have as much of a positive impact on my community. He’s the type of person that radiates positivity and he has the biggest heart. He always has a kind word or joke to tell. The world would definitely be a better place if more people were like him.

Spread the word! Pick up a book, newspaper, magazine, or read a blog from 12 – 4 PM 😉
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. words never lose their meaning and are still relevant today. I chose these quotes in particular because they resonate with my spirit and reflect what I want to accomplish with my writing. As a female minority, I more than value the privilege to speak my mind. I always want to speak in a way that honors and upholds the standards that my ancestors gave their lives for. The only way change can occur is when people are brave enough to speak out against injustice and prejudices. Diversity is something that we should all strive to protect and any threat against it should enrage us all as human beings. I never want to sit back and be a silent bystander. I encourage everyone to raise their voice and speak up like Jessica Chastain did at last week’s Critic’s Choice Awards. Those few minutes of her speech had a tremendous impact on raising awareness about the lack of minority recognition in Hollywood. Several minorities gave stellar performances last year in film and it’s quite shameful that it’s not reflected during award season. We need more people like her in the world.
We’ve come a long way, but we still have so far to go as a society. Until we are all treated fairly and not judged for the color of our skin, gender, religion, sexual orientation, etc. we have to continue to fight the good fight.
Happy Friday!
Hope everyone has an awesome weekend. I plan on doing some serious writing. I have several posts in the works, but I’m most excited about my trip down memory lane. Since I’m approaching the big 30th birthday in May, I find it befitting to write about the milestones of my twenties. It’s been quite the roller coaster, but my experiences made me stronger and helped me realize the type of woman I envisioned myself becoming. The series of blogs will be titled My Journey from I Know Everything to Enlighten Me. Each post will center around a certain topic such friendship, money, love, family, etc. I hope you’ll enjoy it and maybe learn a thing or two.
Stay tuned….
Here’s a little food for thought. I can only hope that every time I share a new post it touches all that chose to read it. Never be afraid to share your truth. You help yourself by confronting your demons and most of all you give others permission to do the same. I may not be rich or popular, but I pride myself on my selflessness and willingness to help others.
Have an awesome Wednesday!
I’m the first to exclaim “I got a bad case of the Mondays.” In honor of my desire to think more positively, I chose to start the week off on a good note. I encourage you to do the same. After all, positivity is contagious and we can definitely use some in the wake of all the recent tragedies in the world. Hope everyone has a blessed week!
