Words can’t express how excited I am to be working with Nyema Bennett’s Hairducated! Anyone that knows me can attest that I have a passion for all things creative whether it be fashion, movies, music, art, etc.  When Nyema approached me about helping her with Hairducated’s Instagram page, I jumped at the opportunity because it’s rare to find a job that mirrors your personal and professional interests.

Born in New York City, Nyema Bennett attended Humanities and the Arts School where she discovered her passion for hair and make-up. She later decided to relocate in Atlanta, Georgia. It was in Atlanta that she began to develop and master her love of hair styling and make-up application. As a continual student of the craft, it is her unyielding desire to be unique that has afforded her the opportunity of working with a wide range of clients. From musicians, recording artists, corporate executives, and celebrities, Nyema Bennett has worked with them all. Daily Inspiration: 9/21/15

My Monday motivation are these phenomenal African American women! I was so moved and inspired by the dignity and strength shown in each of their acceptance speeches. The camaraderie between the actresses touched my heart because society always wants to put women against each other and sensationalize rivalries. These awards are long overdue. I hope that more minorities will be given the chance to be publicly acknowledged for their talents 👏 Cheers for progress :0

Travis McDermott: Infinity Chiropractic

With so many negative things going on in the world, it’s important to remember all the good things that sometimes get overlooked. Contrary to popular belief there are lots of wonderful people left in the world like my good friend Travis. I recently had the pleasure of filming a testimonial for his new clinic, Infinity Chiropractic, in Missoula, Montana.

 

 

I met Travis McDermott two years ago when I accompanied my mom on her chiropractic appointment. I was having problems with my back and he suggested that I try chiropractic adjustments. I’ll admit I was extremely skeptical because everything about getting adjusted petrified me from the popping sounds to the neck turning. However, I had reached my breaking point since medicine, Icy Hot, and just plain ice weren’t cutting it anymore.

Initially my heart was racing, I cried (a lot) and I could barely breathe every time I came in for an adjustment. The average person would have dropped me like a hot tamale and told me to seek treatment elsewhere and cut their losses. Being the kindhearted and determined individual that Travis is, he accepted the challenge of helping overcome my fears and allow him to help me by figuring out to ease my anxiety. Music was the key to getting my mind off of the “impending doom” of getting adjusted. It allowed me to relax, find my happy place and let him do his job. Once I was able to calm my body down enough for the adjustments to become effective I began seeing a tremendous decrease in my low back. When I started there were days that I could barely sit up without feeling agonizing pain. Now I can go as I please and I feel like I got my life back.

I am a firm believer in paying it forward and there is no one more deserving of praise and recognition than Travis. I encourage you to support my friend because he is a genuine, humble, God-fearing and thoughtful family man that could use some help. He recently opened his own clinic and I couldn’t be more proud of him. He’s given so much to so many that it’s time for someone to do something for him! If you’ve ever started your own company you know how important it is for small businesses to find clients and gain brand recognition. I would be so appreciative if you could help me spread the word about his clinic and help his social media grow.

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Ashley Greene for a little over a year and she is by far one of the hardest workers I’ve ever encountered. Saying she’s a jack of all trades is an enormous understatement. She juggles being a mom, entrepreneur, hair stylist, and retailer like it’s nothing. More importantly, her infectious, bubbly demeanor makes it impossible to be in a bad mood around her. The world would definitely be a better place if more people like her existed.

I am so proud of my Step-Grandfather Crystal Rogers! He was recently featured in a Charleston Daily Mail article and I couldn’t think of anyone more deserving. He has a beautiful voice and he’s such an inspiration to me. It’s so nice to see him publicly acknowledged for his talent. I can only hope to one day have as much of a positive impact on my community. He’s the type of person that radiates positivity and he has the biggest heart. He always has a kind word or joke to tell. The world would definitely be a better place if more people were like him.
