There is no greater feeling than serenity. Once I started living life on my terms instead of everyone elses, I felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. I wasted entirely too much energy trying to please people. Once you own your truth you have nothing to be afraid of anymore because all your cards are on the table. The anxiety that comes with keeping secrets or hiding your true self can become overwhelming and all-consuming. I highly recommend following your heart and doing whatever your passionate about often. That being said, I implore you to break free from the chains that bind you and live the life you choose to the fullest. YOLO!
I have always admired his work and I couldn’t agree more with his perspective on writing. I do it because it makes me feel alive, it fills my heart with joy, and I love connecting with others on a deeper level. Having a positive impact on someone’s day is just icing on the cake. Success is attainable you just have to put in the work and be relentless in making your dreams a reality 🙂 It might not come as quickly as you would like, but it will all be worth it in the long run because anything worth having takes time.
I realize it’s only human nature that makes us feel like we have to categorize the world around us, but we should only do this with objects. I believe that we are all constantly evolving as people with each experience life throws at us. Labels only put people in a box and leave no room for change. People should be free to change their minds and live life on their own terms. The only person who can define you is you. No one has the right to pigeon hole you into one thing. In my lifetime, I have been given several labels and most of them could not have been more further from the truth.
I’ve been a huge John Mayer since his first album. Say what you want about his public persona, but the man can write beautiful, timeless lyrics that truly resonate with every fiber of your being. These particular lyrics are from his song “Stop This Train.” As I approach the big 30th birthday, I often find myself reminiscing about the good ole days. It seems like just yesterday I graduated high school. As I go on Facebook to catch up with friends I’m blown away at how much has changed. People are married with their own families and houses and all I can think is we’re too young to be this settled. A huge part of me wishes that time would just stand still for a moment to catch up. In reality, I know that’s not possible.
I feel like this song perfectly encapsulates this formidable period of your life where you are not a kid anymore and you are trying to make a smooth transition into adulthood. Enjoy your youth and don’t be in a rush to grow up. Cherish each and every moment you have with your family and friends because as you get older your priorities grow and it seems like your free time almost disintegrates. It’s not impossible to maintain these relationships, it just takes a lot more effort.
I’m open to whatever the future has in store. I just think there will always be a nostalgic, sentimental side of my personality that will keep the memories of the past close to my heart.
Two simple words that mean so much when you’re having a difficult time. Hope is a precious asset to the human experience. Without it one simply has no motivation or reason to push forward.  Everyone is going through something and I pray that God grants you peace when you’ve reached your breaking point or feel overwhelmed.

Grammar aside, this is hands down one of my favorite quotes of all time! Being a writer takes serious guts because you literally reveal your soul for the world to consume. Every time I write a post I have a little anxiety because you never know how people will react. Luckily, I speak from my heart and have developed a thick skin, so ultimately the ability to share my experiences trumps any negative feedback. I have the utmost respect for anyone that is brave enough to be their unadulterated self in a society that would rather you conform and not make waves.
Never let setbacks derail you in the pursuit of making your dreams a reality. Struggling is a necessary aspect of life that challenges us and helps us develop a stronger sense of self. Always believe in your abilities no matter how many times people discourage or reject you. Keep your eye on the prize and know that as long as you have faith anything is possible! I think many of us take listening for granted because we are too concerned with making sure our point gets across. However, I thoroughly enjoy listening to other people! Every person that you come into contact with has their own life experiences and opinions. Listening to stories or having deep conversations with people forces me to look at life from a different vantage point and I love seeing the beautiful vulnerability that comes with expressing your truth. I implore you to really listen and give your undivided attention throughout the week and I promise you’ll be amazed by what you learn from others 🙂
